To believe that a large man lives up in the sky somewhere is infantile at best yet we see millions upon millions who believe in this fairy tale. Be it God, Allah, Great Spirit in the Sky or whatever one calls it we in reality are talking about an impersonal force. The life giving particles and elements of the universe have created life on earth. We all live and die just as stars, galaxies, and universes do....it is a never ending cycle...or as Joseph Campbell put it..."an ever burning sacrifice." For humanity to continue to fight wars and have actual hatred for one another due to the fantasy world of literal religion is sheer madness. The true spiritual message or connotation from religion is that one must find their higher power within....not up there or out there somewhere. As the Hindus say one must be a God to worship a God. We are all one and come from the same source. It is time for a new enlightenment to take place where all of humanity realizes that the entire earth and all of its inhabitants are sacred. The true message of all world religions is quite simple. Religion shows us metaphorically (not literally) how to find our higher power within. Some call it Christ or Buddha consciousness....or various other names but in the end it all points to the same thing. It is a metaphorical way to find our divinity "within" and not out there or up there somewhere.

All world religions are based on ancient myth, metaphor, and astrology. There is no big gray bearded king on a throne up in the sky somewhere....just as there is no big red man with horns and a pitchfork who lives in a fiery pit somewhere. The true purpose of religion is again metaphorical....We must crucify our animal instincts and be resurrected or born again to our true nature or higher power within.

The Power of Myth

There is no such thing as perfection.....It does not exist. Suffering is imperfection....The story of human suffering, striving, and living shows us what we must go through to experience life. These things help you experience the feeling of being alive.....Myths are the clues to the spiritual potentials of life....a myth is not the search for meaning, but rather the experience of meaning. From dreams we learn about our inner selves....Nature itself is it's own beauty.....Life lives by killing and eating itself....casting off death....and being reborn again.....Myth is just the beginning to our understanding of our own world....Create a myth...tell a story...and let life live on....after all... that in itself is the way life was meant to be.....

The Middle East (Old and New)

When we look back in history at The Persian Empire we find that their views were quite different than what we find today. Rulers like Cyrus The Great and Darius practiced a religion called Zoroastrianism which encouraged things like freewill, honesty, integrity, and justice. They promoted things like mathematics, science, astronomy, monetary systems, and irrigation hundreds of years before The Romans. They also introduced legal systems and huge libraries full of wisdom and knowledge. Another interesting fact to note is that they abolished slavery as much as possible within their empire....an amazing feat for a civilization back then. Cyrus was known to be quite generous once he had defeated a rival. He would usually allow them to continue their religious and cultural beliefs unlike other rulers who would completely destroy any and all competition. Now we look at Islam and The Middle East and find a system that controls and manipulates people. Islam seems to be nothing more that a large cult. ( One believer= delusional, ten believers=cult, thousands of believers=religion. ) Islamic extremists sadly encourage hatred, bias, anger, deceitfulness, and destruction. Their way is the only way which isolates Islam from the rest of humanity. Terrorism, brainwashing, and perverse tyranny seems to be the way in countries like Iran and Iraq. What the hell happened? How could a culture so advanced and intellectual slip into what I compare to The Dark Ages? Why are their current leaders allowed to remain in power? The world needs to wake up and realize that good people in these countries are being tortured and killed. The insanity has to stop. There needs to be a concentrated effort by all of the world powers to tackle and eliminate this madness.
